What is optimal rest time while training?

I often see a lot of people waiting too long or not long enough between sets. There are many answers to this but ill break down my philosophies very simply. When performing compound movements such as HEAVY pressing, squats or deads, 60-90 seconds is needed. I try not to go over 90 seconds. Unless it was a heavy set followed by drop-sets.

Ideally, I like to keep it around 45-60 minutes. I feel it keeps me leaner, keeps digestion and appetite up as it is metabolically stimulating. It also keeps the pump constant. Is it more taxing? For sure, but we don’t want to make things easier. To build a thick, dense but detailed physique, requires weight AND volume. When not waiting too long between sets you are just constantly pushing blood in there. Creating a round dense look when coupled with a heavyweight.
